The President of the Republic, J. Ramos-Horta met with Ekaterina Zagladina, President of the Permanent Secretariat of the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, for a working breakfast in Abu Dhabi today. The meeting, also attended by Ambassador Sónia Neto, took place on the sidelines of the Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity Summit.

The two Nobel Peace Prize laureates discussed the possibility of organizing a gathering of Nobel Peace Prize laureates in 2026. The proposed summit would focus on themes such as “Progress in Human Development” or “Ethics in Modern Civilization.” Zagladina committed to developing a formal proposal based on their discussion for future consideration.

The informal meeting reflects ongoing efforts to bring together Nobel Peace laureates to address global challenges. President Ramos-Horta, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1996, continues to actively engage in international peace and development initiatives.
