Senior Advisor for Latin America
Ms. Elizabeth Tinoco serves as a Senior Advisor to Latin America for the Permanent Secretariat.
A Venezuelan, she was appointed Assistant Director General (ADG) and Regional Director of the International Labour Organization (ILO) for the Americas, including the Caribbean Region from 2011 to 2015. She also held the positions of Executive Director of the ILO’s Sectoral Activities Department in ILO headquarters Geneva, as well as Coordinator for the Americas. Elizabeth joined the ILO in 1991.
Prior to that, she was Researcher and Professor in political and socio-cultural history at the Central University of Venezuela for 13 years and Coordinator of the School of Art.
Ms. Tinoco graduated from the Central University of Venezuela and the Simon Bolivar University of Venezuela, with diplomas in Sociology and a Master’s Degree in Political Science. She has published two books on the Political History of Venezuela, written articles in newspapers and specialized publications, and authored forewords to notable publications.
