SPEECH BY EKATERINA ZAGLADINA ON THE OCCASION OF THE CONCLUSION OF THE TWO-YEARS OF GANDHI-150 CELEBRATIONS
Thank you to the Gandhi King Foundation for organizing this gathering on this most auspicious occasion – the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, born on this day in 1869.
Therefore today, the International Day of Peace, holds special significance for us. This year’s theme of “Shaping Peace Together” is very fitting, as the people of the world stand united in the face of the current situation.
The Permanent Secretariat will continue to support efforts to bring unconditional peace to the Korean Peninsula and looks forward to future cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the people of Korea.
The Permanent Secretariat is excited to work with One Young World over the next five years in promoting peace education, and motivating and equipping young leaders to make a positive social impact.
Among others, the partnership with the Permanent Secretariat will give Jornada de Derechos Humanos the opportunity to bring a delegation of youth activists, students and academics from universities and youth organizations to the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates.
